Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the difference between Microblading and Nano Brows? This is everyone's first question. Microblading uses tiny BLADES to slice your skin and brush the pigment in. Nano brows use a fine needle with a machine to slowly layer pixels into the skin. This technique is much more advanced and gentle on the skin. I am asking all clients to move from microblading to nano brows. The results are just as beautiful without as much trauma to the skin as the older technique of microblading.

How long will it last? Between 1 and 3 years! This will vary depending on skin type, lifestyle, and following recommended aftercare.

Does it hurt? Most clients experience minimal pain and compare it to light scratching. Many clients even fall asleep! Topical anesthetic is applied prior and during the procedure so the client can feel at ease while receiving the treatment.

How should I prepare for my appointment? If you want to bring inspo pictures, please do! The day of: – no caffeine – no exercising as it expands the pores 48 hours before – no alcohol 2 to 3 days before – no Ibuprofen, Aspirin or blood thinning medication (Tylenol is okay) 7 days before – no plucking, waxing or threading 14 days before – no vitamin E, fish oils, or niacin – no extensive sun exposure or sunburns – no AHA’s or any creams/face washes for exfoliating, anti-aging, tone correcting and fading as they may cause pigment discoloration 4 weeks before – no laser treatments, micro-needling, dermaplaning, any other facials, Botox or other fillers, and chemicals peels 6 months before – no Accutane and/or steroids which thin and make the skin more sensitive Menstrual cycles – avoid scheduling your procedure during this time. Your skin will be more sensitive and likely to bleed.

How long will the appointment take? All first sessions take around 3 hours. This includes a thorough consultation, numbing, mapping and the procedure. Please plan accordingly, sometimes it can take longer if you are more sensitive or we need more time for mapping. I do not rush any of my appointments. I care about the outcome just as much as you do.

What is the healing process like? Your new brows will take about 4-6 weeks to totally heal. If you follow the washing & ointment instructions properly there should only be some minor flaking in the first 7-10 days. You will go through many emotions throughout your healing process. Some people feel shocked, some excited, some scared. The tattoo will be dark for a few days, then as it settles under your healing skin, they will lighten. This is called the "ghosting Phase". You may feel like they have completely disappeared. Please trust the process, this is what the touchup is for. It is normal for some areas to heal lighter than others. Desired results require at least 2 sessions.

When should I get touched up and how often? The average time between touchups are 18 months - 3 years. I will not touch up your PMU unless you absolutely need it. Less is more when it comes to this process. I offer a complimentary touch up between 8 – 12 weeks of your initial appointment. After that, we charge a fee for annual color boosts.

How do you pick your colors? For brows, the color is matched as closely as possible to you natural brow hair. If you tint your brows, please have them tinted to the desired color a few days before the treatment. For lipblush, I ask you to bring your favorite everyday lip color so we can color match. If you want something bold and dramatic it is best to save that for makeup and apply it over your tattoo.

Who should avoid permanent makeup? The following excludes clients from permanent makeup: – Under 18 years old – Pregnant or nursing (NO EXCEPTIONS) – If you have skin diseases such as Shingles, Psoriasis or Eczema on the area of treatment – Keloid disorder, HIV/Hepatitis, skin cancer, hemophilia, or if you’re taking skin medications like Accutane and steroids. -taking blood thinners -currently undergoing chemotherapy (must wait 6 months minimum) -Dermatitis of the tattoo area -Extremely Sensitive Skin -Excessively large pores

Can you tattoo over previous permanent makeup? A new tattoo will not cover-up eyebrow tattoos or other permanent make-up unless the color is extremely faded. We will need to see a photo of your eyebrows to determine if we can do the correction/cover-up for you. Please send us a very clear and close up photo of your eyebrows to : lacey@permalounge.com. This photo is private and will not be shared.

What should I do to prepare for LipBlush Treatment? Exfoliate in the days leading to your appointment. Light exfoliation is recommended the day before. Keep lips as moisturized as possible to help with pigment retention. Stay as hydrated as possible. We can't have your lips chapped or cracked during the procedure.

If I get cold sores can I get LipBlush Treatment? Yes you can! We would need you to be clear of any cold sores before your scheduled treatment and also take an antiviral prior to the treatment and continue after the treatment to prevent uneven healing of color.

What is the LipBLush healing process like? You will be a little sore and swollen the day of treatment. The next day your lips will feel very chapped and slightly swollen still. I will provide a cleanser and ointment to apply after the treatment. These products should be the only thing used on your lips for the first week. Light crusting will begin after a few days. It is VERY IMPORTANT not to pick at your lips. This will cause uneven color in the healing process. Your Lips will fade 40-50% from the initial color and will heal into a beautiful soft shade. Desired results require a minimum of 2 sessions.
